The point is madam, thou said all religious men were holy. Considering a POPE had a daughter and together they commited such scandal thine have a very warped mind! They are not the only examples, it makes me chuckle when I hear the rumour that there was once a female Pope!

Worthless rumour. And what about the French Protestants who sacked monestaries and raped nuns? People of mine own True Faith hath never been so cruel!

And Henry did not reform just for reform's sake. He did it for Anne Boleyn and the wealth!

*yawns*

Tis a very olde argument thou dost make Marie, and we are reforming the religion whether thou joinst us or no.

...now, do tell me more of what these priests do on their altars! I am most intrigued and as 'The Virgin Queen' of a court populated almost entirely by olde men I am most lacking in good gossip! Especially gossip of the kind that doesn't involve me having to issue death warrants. I find such a practice doth lessen mine enjoyment of any tale somewhat.

As lovely (she says through clenched teeth) as every minute of Marie's stay within my household was, I am well pleased that she now hath a place of her own.

Alas tis far faaaaar from the main board in the line of true Princes and so I shall find myself unable to make the long trek to visit her often. I suspect she will be most pleased to hear of this.

Old argument? 'Tis just as valid as ever! With 40% of Britons seeing themselves as god-less! This cannot be tolerated!

Then Marie, we shudst be working together to turn their hearts to their true God instead of bickering over trifles....

*thinks briefly, ' mmm, sherry trifle, my favourite!' Returns to her speech before anyopne cudst suspect the Virgin Queen hath such trivial matters in her intelligent mind*

...for we doth both believe strongly in Him no matter how we choose to glorify Him. I also suspect Marie that despite past... unfortunate decisions and occurances... thou doth value thine subjects and consider thineself entrusted with the future of their eternal souls.

*Somehow has the feeling that Elizabeth wants sherry trifle, bu doesn't know what that is, so forgets the whole idea*.

I do agree. And I love your discretion by the way. 'Tis probably why I'm headless and thou art not.

I wudst have taught thee mine ways good cousin had religion and the words of meddlesome men not split us firmly apart over the love of the same God and for the love of the same subjects.

I didst escape death many a time - and from a very young age I might add - whist thou had the protection of the French court.

Though my life hath hung in the balance at every turn and I am pleased you didst not have to endure such, it grieves me that you are lacking in the lessons I hath learnt from it. The lessons of how to control one's situation, command one's courtiers, keep the love of thine subjects over and above their choce of religion... and how to keep one's head til it is God's will to take thee at a ripe old age.

I wish I had listened to thee. Truly, I do. If only I had not been so arrogant. However, I felt as though thee were trying to undermine me at every turn. What with bribing my nobles and imprisoning me. I do not bring that up to sew discord, but how can I listen to the advice of someone who hates me so?

I do not hate you Marie. I wudst have allowed my ministers have thee put to death long ago if I didst not love the as a beloved kinswoman and as a fellow annointed Prince.

However, I fear our mutual passion for our religions and our fiery tempers didst somewhat get in our way, as did the politics of state.

I wudst happily have had a strong fellow Queen and kinswoman controlling a neighbouring kingdom to mine. Alas, thine kingdom was something of a mess (I wish not to offend, but at the point your country was at war, your son nothing less than kept from you and you being holed up in some caste with a barbarian new husband... what else can I call it?). Also your insistance upon removing the crown from mine head with my death in order to take it yourself didst somewhat alarm me as I'm sure you can imagine.

Oh ... well ... If I'd only known about your true sentiments I would not have ... well ... tried to have you assassinated and desposed. Je suis tres desole.

However it would never have worked out. Two Queens with Tudor blood running in their veins, one complimented with blood of the Boleyns and the other with blood of the Stuarts. One of us would have had to kill each other, eventually.

I have decided to remember unto myself my religious somewhat tolerance of my youth, rather than the sentiments expressed to my royal son King Philip on my death.

God still prefers Spanish, though, I am sure.

Religous tolerlance is a practice all shuld embrace but too few do. I wuldst think that more blood is spilt in the name of God than by evil deeds. It makes mine heart heavy.

Tis a great shame concidering both sides worship the same God with equal love, loyalty, and reverance. In a Godly war, I see no winner emerging.

I myself do believe that God hath no preference and doth love us all equally. ...but if we do verily vex him by declaring war upon each other he may become a little angered and stomp upon some of our ships. Naming no names of course.

*cough*Philip*cough*

I believe he didst spare me the ruination of my kingdom as he knows I do love and serve him well... but mayhaps have taken Sweet Robyn from me as punishment for not holding off many more years in the matter of mine cousin Marie. The the Lord knows as well as I that no-one didst mourn her passing heavier than I did myself.

Philip is a very silly boy who must have his own way and likes to fight wars, but hath not thine skill to win them, Juan. He also doth choose his opponents foolishly upon occasion.

We could never have married. We'd have bludgeoned each other to death arguing over some trifle as both of us must have our way, I talk sense til I bore everyone and he talks no sense at all til he doth bore everyone.

...I do hear that his sailors art so fond of thee that they would follow thee to the ends of the earth for or against the Spanish. I think them most sensible men indeed.

I find Felipe is both sensible and boring, and have no idea what his wife Elizabeth saw in him, the poor besotted thing.

The men I command have been fond of me, and it has caused tension between my royal brother and myself, I admit. Though it is of course nothing which I had intended. Felipe is more contemplative, taking after that aspect of our father- where I follow his more active side.
